This is just a list of Praise & Worship songs and lyrics (plus music files for some of them). If you have any suggestions (making additions, changes, corrections, deletions, etc.), then please let me know! My e-mail address is PJBarnes@usa.net. Click here to go to my main home page.
Audio Files (first column):
Some songs have music files along with them.
I currently have two types of music files available:
These indicate MIDI files. MIDI files are small and don't take a long time to download, but they
only contain note information and not voice information, so the music
will not contain singing, and the
quality will depend on your sound card's MIDI functionality.
If your browser doesn't play MIDI files directly, then you can save it and use
Windows Media Player or some other capable program to play them.
These indicate mp3 files.
mp3 files store sound information, so they can contain
singing; however, they are large and take longer to
download. To play these files, you must have
Windows Media Player,
WinAmp,
or some other capable program.
These songs were not recorded professionally; the purpose of providing the audio files is not to provide high-quality samples, but to give people an idea of how the song goes. The mp3 files are merely hand-made recordings of me singing (please don't make fun of me, I haven't taken many voice lessons) and playing the guitar into my computer's little microphone, plus echo effects (echo blends my singing and hides my impurities, heehee).
Songs and Lyrics (middle columns):
Song ordering (and copyright information)
Song titles are in alphabetical order (the word "The" is not counted)
Hold your mouse over a song title to see who is credited for being its author(s)
Verse markings
Verse and chorus definitions are marked like:
1: Lyrics for verse 1 go here
C: Lyrics for the Chorus go here
B: Lyrics for the Bridge go here
When different verses are similar, they are marked like:
[2: Parts of verse that are different
go here... with ellipses used appropriately]
Repeating a verse or chorus is marked like:
[1]
[C]
(repeat)
Merely repeating a phrase is marked like:
Lyric-phrase (x2)
Voice markings
Vocal splits (and re-gatherings) are marked like:
Guys: Guys' lyrics go here
Girls: Girls' lyrics go here
** Lyrics go here (after two asterisks) for when
everyone begins to sing together again
Sometimes, guys
are to sing a phrase, then girls are to repeat it; this is common enough to
warrant giving it its own symbol (asterisk), as in:
* Phrase goes here (guys sing it, then girls repeat it)
** Again, two asterisks mark where everyone joins
again
Miscellaneous
When I didn't know the lyrics, sometimes a slash is used, as in:
me/Thee
...or sometimes question marks are used, as in:
???
For some songs, only the chorus is given (esp. if the normal
verses are not well-known or not good for praise and worship singing)
Scripture References (last column):
I have tried to find a Scripture reference for most of the songs.
Some songs match a particular passage of Scripture so closely that it
is very obvious that the author based the lyrics from it.
For other songs, if I could not find an obvious derivation but
could find something that was pretty similar, then I've given what I've found
along with a question mark. If a song is very well-rounded and comes from
many Scriptures, then I simply indicated so with the word "Many"; if I could
find no Scriptural basis for the majority of the lyrics for a song, I indicated
this with the word "None". If I haven't even tried to find references yet,
I have given "..." to indicate that I will fill this in later.
